Thread for posting music you like.
Love that Kenbrace, takes me right back to my youth!
That's pretty awesome, almost made the hairs stand up at the back of my neck! I can't beat that right now for useful creativity, but here are some dutch women singing. I wonder if its obvious to you what else they're doing Try not reading the title of the video as it gives it away!
You like Lindsey eh? Well how about Lara?
And she is an Aussie to top it off. DAT ACCENT. Plus, the well renowned Chocobo theme to finish it off:
I recently listened to Steam Powered Giraffe and absolutely love their music and their showmanship. While tagged as steampunk (what ever that means within the music genre?), it is really a mixed media event and they seem to love being "on"
Honeybee is great as a first listen.
On the subject of Youtuber Musicians as well, I have to mention Smooth McGroove and Nightshader1, two of my subscriptions. The former plays every acapella and does it spot-on. The latter plays a bunch of video game music, but on Piano or Keyboard. Here are some examples for you:
(Zelda, Link to the Past Overworld Theme)
(Megaman 2, Wily's Stage 2 theme music)
And to finish smooth:
(Aww Yeah, Chrono Trigger!)
(Aww Yeah, Castlevania Symphony of the Night!)
(My favorite from C:SOTN)
So many good youtube musicians deserve their time in the spotlight.
Henryk Górecki - Symphony No. 3 of "Sorrowful Songs" | Dawn Upshaw
About 13:30 into the piece is where Dawn Upshaw begins singing the second movement, The words sung in the second mouvement were written on a cell wall in the basement of the Gestapo headquarters in Zadopane during WW2. They are the opening of a Polish prayer to the Holy Mother.
This is a very beautiful piece, and has been remarkably popular.
If you didn't like Symphony of Sorrowful Songs, you'll loathe Spiegel Im Spiegel by Arvo Pärt -- but hey, it's only 10 minutes long.
Arvo Pärt Mirror in Mirrors
The three unsmiling women in back are deadly musician assassins, who will kill the pianist and the cellist if any mistakes are made. Heads will roll. Literally. The fourth woman is the actual note counter. People take minimalist compositions very seriously! It's lovely.
and then, of course, my all time favorite, the Divine...
I have too many cats
sorry, don't mean to spam, but you did ask
Beautiful. Almost even haunting a bit, no eerily so but entrancing so
Coldplay's style seems to have been influenced by the minimalists like Reich, Glass, Adams, et al. Lots of repetition of musical figure, steady elaboration, that sort of thing.
I learned to play this one on both the piano and guitar and it is one of my all-time favorites.
On guitar and piano at once, that's amazing!
