Purity in Religion

    Could there be some justification for it? Definitely the ancient Hebrews were obsessed with it.

    Possibly the obsession with purity would counter Satan's mixing a little truth with massive lies.

    Sounds like the politicians in the USA. They all must be religious people.

    There is nothing unique about religion seeking renewal wherein an effort is made to purify practice. Over time, practice might have become too exclusive, too sloppy, or too inaccessible, and is deemed "corrupted". The proper response to corruption is purification. If an accounting firm is found to be corrupted, it will need to cleanse itself of all shady dealings and/or persons. It will need to "purify" itself. Otherwise nobody will trust it.

    Malachi 2:3

    But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appears? for he is like a refiner's fire...
    He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the Lord will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness...
