A Certain Problem in Justice

    On the movie, Cape Fear (the remake), the Robert De Niro character was obviously a scumbag and probably did the rape he was accused of. Nonetheless, the lawyer withheld evidence that would have gotten him off.

    In other words, this boils down to the problem where the good guy isn't so good himself/herself - but it's obvious the bad guy is almost totally evil. What to do?

    That problem has always been present in the justice system. Enough money and you can be proven innocent.

    Which can be a bad thing if the person really did the crime.

    Yes. But that doesn't seem to matter much within the justice system.
